How it's calculated

  • Stocked = density × area; harvested fish = stocked × survival%
  • Harvest (kg) = harvested fish × average weight
  • Feed (kg) = harvest × FCR
  • Total cost = fingerlings + feed + other costs
  • Profit = harvest × price − total cost; ROI = profit ÷ total cost × 100

Assumptions

Feed is estimated from total harvest weight (ignores initial fingerling weight). Disease, water quality, price fluctuation and partial harvests are not modelled. Suitable stocking density varies by species and management — check with your fisheries department.

Worked example

1 acre, 3,000 fingerlings at ₹2, 75% survival, 1 kg each → 2,250 kg; feed 3,600 kg at ₹38 = ₹1,36,800; total cost ₹2,02,800; revenue at ₹130/kg = ₹2,92,500; profit ₹89,700 (ROI 44.2%).
